The Wiveliscombe Artist Collective
I love throwing things! So using a pottery wheel and then carving clay is my perfect way to spend time. Inspired by creation around us, I love experimenting, particularly with porcelain and terracotta – simply for the joy of it!
My home studio sits in our alpaca field, so I am used to having an audience through the windows! I very often have a cat on my lap, 2 dogs on the floor and at least one of the alpacas just the other side of the glass while I play with clay and glazes.
Trying to recreate the shapes and colours of things we see growing around us is the challenge I set myself. There is infinite beauty in leaves and flower petals, among other things. Experimenting with carving, especially after first throwing a pot on the wheel is both frustrating and satisfying – depending on how close to the original idea it comes!
If you would like to visit me in the studio, meet the mini zoo and chat about all things beautiful, I would love to meet you. Please feel free to contact me to arrange a time.
